Building on a twenty-five-year career practicing law in Delaware and more than twenty-two years as a corporate fiduciary, I launched my professional fiduciary business, DFL Fiduciary Services, LLC. DFL Fiduciary offers non-corporate fiduciary oversight of trusts to families of meaningful wealth. Its services include acting as trust protector and enforcer, distribution advisor, designated representative to silent trusts, board member and committee member of private trust companies. During my eighteen years at Northern Trust Company, I served in several fiduciary management roles. In 2005, I was the founding partner of The Northern Trust Company of Delaware, Northern's special-purpose trust affiliate, and served as its first president until 2012. I next served in London as managing director for the EMEA Region of Northern's Global Family Offices business. I was responsible for the development of its London- and Guernsey-based custody and fiduciary business for clients of significant wealth.Upon my return from London, I was Fiduciary Practice Lead and then Director of Fiduciary Consulting for GFO, often working with global clients to ensure that their family trusts were efficiently governed in a suitable jurisdiction. I also developed an expertise in private trust companies, their structure and governance.I began my legal career in Delaware at Potter Anderson & Corroon where I developed a specialty working with corporate fiduciaries. I served as lead counsel on several seminal Delaware trust cases in the Court of Chancery. Following twelve years at PAC, I became a partner in the Delaware office of Duane Morris LLP. Among other accomplishments at Duane Morris, I was the principal author of significant Delaware legislation, including its repeal of the Rule against Perpetuities and the enactment of its self-settled trust statute, the Qualified Dispositions in Trust Act.
