I am grateful to be apart of this eight week internship program aimed at illustrating what the E&S market is and the role Ryan Specialty plays in that market. In this internship, I underwent an extensive speaker series to learn about Ryan Specialty's role as an intermediary wholesale broker, dealing with carriers that have an appetite for hard to place risks, and their roles as underwriting managers and binding authority actors which include determining risks and writing policies that match the risks. I presented on the cyber risks within the manufacturing industry because of the growing role of technology and AI in order to analyze the underwriting risks and the need for cyber liability insurance. I completed an in office shadow experience which taught be about the day to day skills of a wholesale broker. I learned how to write quotes and binders for the carriers and completed an end summer capstone presentation to a panel of Ryan Specialty employees and directors, earning first play out of the ten groups presenting

I researched and consulted virtually with a small firm out of Connecticut, focusing on gaming and LiDAR companies across the world. My research consisted of compiling data through IR websites to determine the financial standing of comparable companies in these industries, including tear sheets, industry multiples, margin analysis, company growth, and the financial statements of these firms. I then modeled data from select companies using Bloomberg Query Language and organized these outputs in excel.
