I am a IT Leader with many years experience creating solutions, reaching business goals, and delivering projects large and small on time. I am a developer with many years experience. I grew up programming text games in GWBasic, learned C++ in high school, then moved over to web development for fun when the Internet was still called "The World Wide Web". I currently run a development team tasked with maintaining many large mission-critical web apps. I enjoy architecting web applications. I have favorite frameworks. I believe in creating system agnostic applications. I like thin controllers, thin models, and thin service layers. I'm familiar with many web technologies, but recently my day-to-day technologies have been Coldfusion, PHP, SQL, and Javascript (ReactJS).I believe in Keeping It Stupidly Simple. This takes form in many ways such as: naming things well, organizing the code well, explaining team priorities clearly, and always building your MVP first. I am a clear communicator. I am able to translate complex technical concepts into simple ideas. I often function as the bridge between IT and non-technical project partners. I enjoy documenting requirements. I enjoy working with people. Team building is core to my work philosophy. I always tell my teams: We succeed when we work together as one. I lead by example. I believe in people. I set goals. I nurture the talent on my teams. I am a life long learner. I didn't know ReactJS at the start of the year, but a project needed help, so I learned it, and we delivered the project on time. Web technology, leadership skills, guitar, and farming, are just some of the areas that I continually strive to grow in.
