Profile bio

About Daniel G. Benes

I'm a lifelong learner and a teacher. If something interests me, I'll find a way to teach it to others in a way that is far more exciting than my experience learning it. That's my job. Almost any object can be used to inspire learning and growth, including that fun sproingy thing behind the bedroom door. Even an extension cord can be exciting if you present it properly. I’ll prove it..."Oh, if only you could have seen them! Those amazing extension cords…. One of them was a brilliant orange, another an almost phosphorescent green, exhibiting a cocky showiness similar to that of the plumage of an exotic bird during mating season. Both cords, a magnificent marvel of modern electrical science; a magical blend of ancient metallic ore mined from deep within the Earth’s crust—hammered and rolled into long, hair-thin strands of twisted coppery wire, coated in rubbery, insulative chemicals. An extravagantly elegant, but simple method of extending electricity from a wall outlet across the ground itself. The twin cords snaked their way across sprawling wooden floors, under tables, between the legs of chairs—and past people and pets— carrying an unfathomable army of deadly electrons within their shrouded conductive innards. The power within their thin structure enough to cause a two horsepower industrial fan hundreds of feet away to roar to life with thousands of revolutions-per-minute of rotational energy and torque—enough to recirculate the air in a 20’ x 20’ room many times over in minutes—without so much as a hint of danger to the lives along the extension cord's journeyed path. ...Oh, those electrically extending cords were magnificent!". ~D. BenesSee, I told you, properly presented Science is cool! Mission Statements can be difficult to compose. Mine was easy: "To inspire people to inspire others, in a style that promotes excitement, insight, thought, and an eagerness to question, and a spirit to explore, the world around us!" Oh, I'm also a World/Ambient music multi-instrumentalist and composer. But that's another story. ~Daniel G. Benes
