Senior Manager Operational Safety
CurrentDedicated point of contact & coordination for field safety within the Customer Services and Transportation Functions. Provides guidance, coaching, direction, and direct oversight of six (6) Lead System Safety Specialists field staff activities located throughout the system.Ensures implementation of Amtrak’s CFR 270 plan, Risk-based Hazard Management Program (RBHM) leading the Customer Service and Transportation Departments System Safety Working Groups (SSWG) to proactively reduce employee and customer injuries as well as rail incidents including major operating rule violations.Responds to and conducts Operational Safety Investigations into life altering or fatalities of employees or customer incidents, as well as major rail incidents.Oversee field implementation and utilization of safety, health, injury and accident/injury prevention programs.Supports company compliance with system safety program planning requirements of regulatory agencies such as FRA, Transport Canada and OSHA.Liaise with governmental and non-governmental organizations including FRA, NTSB, OSHA, host railroads, or other partners in support of regulatory investigations, information requests, and for risk management related activities.
