In charge of the first ever Race to Alaska, http://r2ak.com. A 750 mile engineless, unsupported race from Washington to Alaska through the inside passage. Think smallish highly engineered vessels crewed by seasoned adventurers traveling through international waters. Think, coordination, communication, risk management development and a lot of joy.

2 weeks as 2nd Mate then 4 weeks of Chief Mate, 2 weeks off and start again.Operating in Prince William Sound, Alaska

1st crew of the newly refit Schooner Roseway and under new ownership. Duties included: finish refit, transit from Camden, ME to St. Ignace, MI and running charters for the remaining summer.

Directly supervise 3 full time department staff, 12 seasonal staff and multiple independent contractors and consultants. Responsible for program quality, new program innovation, hiring, departmental assets, community outreach, marketing and boat shop. Create and manage $200,000.00 annual budget. Instruct longboat courses and train longboat Captains. Successfully conduct programs for 300+ students annually.
