Civil Engineer Intern
CurrentI am a member of the Construction Engineering Team under the direction of a Professional Engineer and Registered Land Surveyor, within the Transportation Engineering & Design Division, which serves needs of the entire Public Works Department.Construction Engineering / Field Services:Materials Testing & Engineering Laboratory - Testing construction materials, both in the lab and in the field. Asphalt Gyratory and Gradation testing in the lab; for Max Density, Specific Gravity, AC Content, % Voids, and Aggregate Gradation. Testing Concrete Slump & Air Entrainment and casting of cylinders in the field, and testing cured cylinders in the lab for Compressive Strength.Land Surveying - Topographical and As-Built Surveys, including use of total station and traditional survey equipment and techniques.Engineering Support Services:Centralized to serve virtually all divisions and specialties within the Public Works Department. Maintaining and updating city-wide infrastructure maps and databases; researching documentation such as plats, record drawings, surveys and as-built drawings; making corrections in MicroStation CAD & ArcGIS; performing QA/QC, and training engineering technician staff.
