Voluntary placement through European Voluntary Service (EVS), funded by the European Commission. Obtained placement at charity JUCONI, an NGO that helps street-working children in Guayaquil, Ecuador: - As a full-time volunteer for Juconi Ecuador helped the charity doing translation, marketing/fundraising, Webpage development and project delivery as part of my role. - I translated documents from Spanish to English and vice versa. The documents ranged from financial statements, project reports, policies and procedures or funding applications to brochures, profiles of children and families, Website content, etc. - I helped Juconi to find new potential sponsors, search for funding opportunities both at local and international level and design new marketing ideas to raise their profile, both online and offline at an international level and within the community. I developed the content of the webpage, making it more functional and client-focused. - I helped organise different types of events to fundraise money for Juconi’s projects and new programmes of work. - I spent time in the field with Juconi’s team of psychologists based in the poverty-stricken marginal areas and slums of the city of Guayaquil, supporting them to run their therapy sessions with the children who work in the streets and their families. - I also gave support within the community and during special events held by the NGO. I cooperated with the education department and set up English lessons for some of the children, held once a week.
