Wrote a framework in PHP and JavaScript to handle promotions for Starwood Hotels that all future new employee promotions will use. Backend development time to launch a new promotion went from weeks to days as a result.Supported the inclusion of four new hire promotions on the new framework for Cisco, Google, Accenture, and Apple.Translated existing applications from ColdFusion to PHP to aid in Lacek’s language transition.Wrote a pair of applications in AppleScript to automate the creation of XML files used to generate automated emails. Rewrote StarTribune’s “meter” code — the code that determines when a non-subscriber should run out of free articles. The rewrite made this code much more modular and extensible, allowing StarTribune the flexibility to exclude certain articles from their calculations, to provide grace periods, or to meet requirements not yet conceived of.One of three developers that worked to completely rewrite the mobile version of StarTribune.com.Was the primary developer on the caching layer and performance improvements.Was the primary developer on an experimental rewrite of the recirculation code that is able to suggest new articles based on your viewing history.
