The thing I love most in life is learning! Whether that means learning about math and science myself, or helping other people understand difficult topics, I love everything about the learning process. Ever since I discovered my passion for learning, I have wanted to become a teacher. Fortunately, that opportunity came first in the form of a tutoring job. As of right now, I am currently a student teacher in my last semester of college, where I am helping middle school students learn and explore math. I truly enjoy everything about the experience, from creating lesson plans and finding worksheets, to sitting down with students and teaching them the steps to solve problems. My aspiration to become a teacher led me to attend the University of North Texas, where I am currently participating in the Teach North Texas program, a series of courses designed to produce high quality secondary education teachers. The program allows me to practice teaching in front of real middle school classrooms to gain valuable experience in front of students. I am also majoring in Mathematics through the College of Science since I have always enjoyed the satisfaction of working on a problem until I find a conclusive solution.Throughout my years of schooling, I have developed a variety of skills to enhance my ability to solve problems. For example, I have spent two years learning and utilizing Java programming to solve a number of technical challenges. I am fascinated by programming and plan to take more courses in the future. In addition, my thirteen years as a Boy Scout has encouraged me to learn and demonstrate a variety of practical skills—such as resourcefulness, adaptability, and teamwork—in a unique environment: the outdoors. Becoming an Eagle Scout involved years of working both independently and with others to find creative solutions to solve unexpected situations. As an aspiring educator, my ability to solve problems in a variety of ways is crucial for finding the best methods to meet each student’s needs. My dream goal in life is to be an educational youtuber so I can reach as many people as possible! I want to help students all around the world who struggle or fall behind in class. I hate to see students claim that “math isn’t for them” simply because they were forced to rush through foundational math concepts. Instead, I want to create a world where math is no longer a hinderance for students but rather a steppingstone to new discoveries and opportunities.
