Dan Smith joined Steel, LLC in 1988 working in the engineering and drafting department. Dan spent 3 years working on the larger more complex projects as a Field Coordinator. After several years as a Project Manager and then Senior Project Manager, Dan now serves as the Operations Manager for the company, overseeing five project managers and four assistant project managers. He monitors projects from the time they are awarded until the time they are closed out. Dan meets with the Sales and Estimating to review the scope and special requirements of any given project. He works in conjunction with the Engineering department and the plant to help manage the progress of all projects. Among Dan’s other duties, he reviews the costs, organizes project scheduling, and manages any changes or developments on a project. As a project develops, Dan insures that all scope changes are reviewed and estimated as necessary and that all pricing, payment collection and scheduling are handled and incorporated back into the plan, in order to meet the timeline and needs of the customer. Dan works closely with other departments, offering support to the Sales, Estimating, Engineering and accounting departments, facilitating the day-to-day operations of Steel, LLC. Specialties: Over 23 years in the steel industry working with large, complex projects with short deadlines, and has held positions as a detailer, coordinator and project manager
