Atradius Group

Managing 220 employees through 12 direct-reports where off 8 abroad.Providing the consolidated quarterly IFRS accounts to board, supervisory board and shareholdersProviding all local statutory reports in more than 40 countriesImplementation of IFRS worldwideCreation of one Finance Department worldwide after the merger with NCM and GerlingPrepare the Finance Department for a possible IPOResponsible for a yearly budget of roughly 24 mio EUROHeading several finance projects (Transfer-price, Cost Accounting)Member of several strategic committees such as the Investment Committee, the Re-insurance Committee or the Risk Committee. Successes:When I started in Atradius, the company needed more than 6 month to close the year 2003. The Finance Department was basically inexistent. Main reason was the very confusing situation after the NCM/Gerling merger. After the impression with the first quarterly close which I immediately introduced I had to change more than half of local Finance Managers. Within 3 years we managed to close the group accounts within 5 weeks on a quarterly basis following the IFRS standard.I headed several Finance projects where we introduced a worldwide harmonised chart of accounts within our basic tool Oracle Finance and where we implemented a new consolidation tool (Hyperion). Further we introduced a consistent and professional Cost Accounting and Transfer-Pricing tool.I organised regular Finance workshops in order to improve the education and to guarantee an efficient experience transfer between all the countries. During 2007 I was responsible for the financial preparation and processing of the purchase of CyC, the biggest Spanish credit insurer and no. 4 worldwide. My Spanish knowledge was extremely helpful to complete this transaction which was successfully finalised in January 2008.The Finance Department was IPO ready by the end of 2007 mainly due to the successful realisation of above mentioned projects.

It was an extremely helpful experience to work together with high-level staff of the SEC, Audit firm and local regulator. It was particularly difficult to satisfy the SEC after the ENRON case.Processing of very complex sales-transactions of important foreigner units. This was necessary due to the financial crisis in 2001. In this period Winterthur sold its units in Australia, Italy, France, and EnglandI was able to establish during all this year a very good relationship with our auditors which based on trust and professionalism. Reason for changeAfter many years within Winterthur Insurance I felt the need to change air and to see something new. The fact that after the merger with CS the situation around Winterthur became more and more in-transparent helped my decision. Further I unfortunately realized that the Winterthur culture has been completely overruled by the banking culture.
