Also presented my advice to the trustees at the charity’s away day held in July.I also took responsibility for opening a new bank account for the charity, necessary due to the recent name change to Bright Light Relationship Counselling. Having a new bank account helps Bright Light to manage better financially, as well as making the charity more competitive in the grants application process.I presented updates to the board on the financial performance of the charity on a quarterly basis. This involved talking with the Finance Manager and CEO to investigate income and expenditure, and analysing the data to explain this to the rest of the board in a succinct and helpful way.I regularly kept in contact with the board and CEO to address matters arising, both relating to finance and other matters. As a trustee my responsibility is also to be aware of other issues affecting Bright Light, and to prepare for board meetings by reading all agenda items in advance, and giving my input when necessary.
