Daniel (Dan) Harris TEP has been with Stone King LLP since 2008 and a Partner since 2015. He is both Head of the firm's specialist International & Cross-Border Team and Head of the Stone King Private Client Sector, spearheading the sector's 'upstreaming' project. Dan's passion is international & cross-border wealth-planning, probate and taxation with a particular interest in domicile. He advises on 'foreign' succession & taxation issues in all jurisdictions and works closely with colleagues in the contentious team.He is a full member of the Society of Trusts and Estates Practitioners (STEP) & Franco British Lawyers Society & a member of the Law Society of England & Wales Cross Border Special Interest group and he holds the benchmark STEP Advanced Certificate in International Succession and Probate with distinction.Dan acts for private clients, charities and other solicitors.Work highlights include presenting charity tax advice to the South Korean National Assembly in Seoul, presenting a case to Swiss tax authorities in Lausanne (saving 2 UK charities £14m) and conceiving creative domicile, double taxation and EU Succession Regulation 650/2012 solutions for private clients.Dan writes extensively on cross-border succession and probate matters and speaks regularly at client events and professional events.He is a cross-border consultant to other solicitors; he has provided extensive nationwide training for accountants, notaries & other professionals on the intricacies of cross-border succession and taxation on behalf of (amongst others) the Law Society, STEP and MBL.Dan acts for a broad range of UK charities, providing advice on complex cross-border legacies and international legacy tax, as well as providing training on cross border legacy administration. As a partner in the Charity Legacy Team Dan helps to coordinate contentious and non-contentious expertise across the firm to deliver 'one-stop' advice to charity, education, NHS, faith and social-enterprise clients.Dan brings to the legal profession broad commercial and ‘life’ experience. He headed the UK Press and PR department of a Japanese multinational, ran his own business & enjoyed a successful career as a publisher. As a young sportsman Dan raced motorcycles professionally to World Superbike level, & held the ACU British Land Speed Record.In his spare time Dan pilots a 4 seat aircraft he built himself, to (amongst other destinations) Northern France with his wife & daughter & is a member of the Light Aircraft Association.
