Pilot Flight Equipment Engineering Design, Development and Testing.I was selected to work as part of a team on a multi-million dollar research and development phase of RFD Beaufort’s biggest project to date, to bring a new fast jet flight suit to manufacture ready for evaluation and testing. The end product was for the US Air Force/US Government. It was my responsibility to carry out all the research, design, testing (which included human factor testing, ergonomic evaluation and user experience during all scenarios) and production engineering whilst designing and developing the next generation of pilot flight equipment. As a team we successfully passed the Critical Design Review (CDR) stage of the project to the approval of the US Government (allowing it to progress to the evaluation and testing phase) which required several trips to the US and presenting the work we had completed to 30/40 members of the US Government and US Air force. In another project I took the lead role and helped to win a highly competitive and high profile tender for the design of a new Life Preserver Unit (LPU) for the KNRM (Dutch Life Boat Organisation). I designed and tested a new LPU from scratch to tight specifications which needed to integrate with a new Survival Suit. I production engineered the design to allow it to be manufactured against tight deadlines and to current legislative standards. I received great feedback from the customer and senior managers at Survitec Birkenhead. Garment Design for Outdoor Wear (Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU), 2011)As part of my continuing professional development, I successfully completed a course at MMU which involved designing a novel outdoor wear garment. This involved designing, selecting and testing new materials and managing the manufacturing process. I presented the project to my piers as well as to high level managers from Survitec Birkenhead and MMU
