Profile bio

About Daniel Mirsky

I am an innovative and multifaceted educator, coach and student advocate with 20 years of school teaching, coaching and advising experience and a passion for supporting and building capacity in both young people and their families. Throughout my career I have worked with a profoundly diverse range of students/families, many of whom actively struggle to identify and achieve goals for both school-based success and larger life happiness. In my work with individual students and in classrooms/school communities, I foster a dynamic learning culture rooted in rigorous examination of ideas and compassionate, challenging dialogue, all of which is supported by an explicit, highly intentional approach to individualized and effective learning using the most innovative evidence-based practices and structures. My goal with each student is to create an authentic, individualized learning path that builds on core strengths, addresses and remedies areas of struggle, and systematically builds academic skills and habits of mind to become self-sufficient and confident. I hold a Bachelors Degree with Honors in History and a Masters Degree in Education specializing in Instructional Leadership and Curriculum & Instruction that emphasizes non-hierarchical “leadership from the side.” My advanced degree and two decades of close work in diverse, alternative schools has helped me coach students and families from a solution-oriented, evidence-based approach that feels truly collaborative and supportive.

Listed skills include Curriculum Development, School Leadership, Community Building, Curriculum Design, and 4 others.
