I run the Testing and DevOps teams at Singlewire. Together, these teams support our software engineers in making sure that everything we ship is rock-solid and that the cloud portion of our system stays up and reliable. As we shift to smaller, more frequent releases, I focus on how we keep quality and availability high while allowing app teams to be more nimble at responding to business needs.

I took on the DevOps team at Singlewire in addition to the Software Testing team. DevOps is responsible for shipping the cloud side of our releases and maintaining our cloud infrastructure as well as many of our internal tools and the infrastructure they run on.

I managed testing and testers at Singlewire. The team is about a dozen people, using both automation and exploration-heavy manual testing to test all the flavors of InformaCast, plus two mobile apps, four desktop clients, and our Paging Gateway appliance.

I started at Singlewire focusing on test automation. In addition to day-to-day writing and maintenance of UI and API tests (primarily written in Groovy, using Geb - a fantastic Selenium wrapper - for UI tests and Spock as a general testing framework), I worked on some larger test projects:I was the primary contributor to the API testing client we use across our test projects. In addition to communicating with our APIs, it can auto-generate randomized test data, and it exposes friendlier methods for API interaction from tests.I standardized our Jenkins projects for running tests so they can easily be replicated across environments. Because some of our tests also interact with multiple servers hosted as VMs, I've also enhanced the tools we use to deploy and manage those VMs, making setting up tests for a new or refreshed environment take minutes rather than hours.

I led a number of QA teams at Epic over the years, including Radar, Benchmarking, Rover, and part of EpicCare Inpatient. I managed as many as 25 direct and indirect reports, mentored newer team leads, and led Epic's Testing Methodology group. I popularized chartered, unscripted testing sessions at Epic after experimenting with them on my own team, and I got automation programs off the ground on multiple teams, including creating the infrastructure and first tests for both Rover and Radar.I managed testing of two projects porting Epic's Rover mobile app to new platforms (iOS and then Android), and I managed the testing of Epic's first FDA-regulated medical device, the Blood Product Administration Module. I was a key contributor for successful FDA and ISO audits and I mentored the managers of other regulated projects.I was a QA Coach, working with testers across the division to help them increase their testing skills and grow professionally, and I developed and taught classes for both new and experienced testers on testing techniques. I was also a review reviewer; I helped other team leads across the company write more effective performance reviews.

I started at Epic on the EpicCare Inpatient QA team, testing the Medication Administration Record. In addition to being a top bug-finder in my day-to-day testing, I coordinated release testing for the team.

I made outgoing sales calls.

I ran student, faculty, and guest artist performances at CIM's two concert halls.

I led a team of 6-8 ushers for performances in CIM's concert halls.

I sold instruments, music, and accessories, set up rental instruments, and maintained the appearance and organization of the shop.
