Over the years, I have been able to work in some unique organizations, with some very skilled and talented people. I've benefited greatly from that, spending the last 20 years developing a skill set in the field of electronics - the hardware & software required to drive equipment ranging from aerospace control platforms to industrial control systems.While active duty in the United States Air Force from 2003 until 2008, I was able to develop the abilities required to operate the electronics used in deployed combat Air Traffic Control environments. As the member of a Tactical Air Control Squadron, we took our equipment wherever we were needed, bringing with us the communications, radar & air control capabilities necessary to be an effective force. In addition to operating this equipment, I was required to maintain, troubleshoot & repair any hardware or software issues. The experience I gained over those 6 years of training and deployments allowed me to become a highly skilled journeyman, giving me the tools to work in both relaxed and high-stress environments.In 2008, I began working as a contractor at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Western Currency Facility in the Waste Treatment section. Applying my 6 years of previous electronics experience, I spent the next 11 years working as an Industrial Water/Wastewater Treatment specialist. Our PLC-based industrial operation required me to monitor the many hundreds of PLC input and output processes, as well as make adjustments on-the-fly, troubleshoot faults, repair failed equipment and PM our equipment. This gave the WCF the ability to utilize the chemicals required to manufacture currency and to dispose of the chemical by-products resulting from their automated production processes.Wanting to take my career a step further and give myself the opportunity to be a bigger player in the WCF, I became a federal employee in January of 2019. Taking the role as a Printing Plant Worker, I worked directly with the same equipment that I had previously supported as a contractor. I learned a lot about the processes and equipment involved on the production side. Continuing to move forward, I jumped on the opportunity to return to the Wastewater Treatment Plant in April of 2021. Coming back as the assistant project manager, I continue to apply the skills & character that I have developed over the years. I anticipate the opportunities ahead that will allow me to excel further in the BEP.
