Food and Beverage Australia Limited (FABAL) is one of Australia’s largest vineyard owners and managers, with 1,600 hectares under management across nine regions. It also operates the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company and Vasse Virgin at Seppeltsfield. As the CFO, I lead a team managing all FABAL’s commercial entities, including 5 public companies and a nummber of private groups, across vineyards, wine brands, skincare and chocolate and associated regional tourism.Achievements• ERP replacement resulting in significant reduction in month end and year end close time and reduced finance head count• Financial modelling, legal documentation, company valuation and a new lending facility negotiation for a merger of the three largest public companies in the group

Wirra Wirra and Ashton Hills is a family company producing highly regarded wines from McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills.As the CFO and Company Secretary, I was responsible for financial leadership and governance, along with insurance, IT and inventory planning. Led a commerial strategy focused on working capital management and investment in building brand, which produced a two-fold improvement in return on capital and three-fold increase in dividends.Additional Achievements • Responsible for the due dilligence, legal and funding aspects of the Ashton Hills acquistion • Replaced the ERP with an innovative solution built on the Xero platform and integrated ‘best-of-breed’ products to facilitate better access to data and more efficient processes, as well as provide new DTC capabilities • Managed the insurance and legal aspects of a major business interruption over a 7 year period

I reported to the CFO and was responsible for financial reporting, payroll, fixed assets, inventory costing, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Achievements• Implemented new ERP• Developed new budget and five-year forecasting models

The Association provides the major industries of the McLaren Vale region – wine, food and tourism – with a vision for the future in both domestic and international markets. It acts as representative of those industries and is the driving force behind their development. The Association plays a crucial role in securing the region’s economic and environmental sustainability.The Association is funded by members, sponsors, industry partners and fundraising activities and is governed by a Board of directors elected from within the McLaren Vale grape, wine and tourism fraternity.I served as one of four Directors representing the wine sector. Building consensus with such a diverse group of stakeholders and limited budgets was a fantastic experience. Served as the Chair for a six month period whilst we recruited a new independent Chair. Held the positions of Deputy Chair and Aduit Committee Chair throughout my term.

The South Australian Wine Industry Association is the peak body representing the viticultural and winemaking interests of the state. SAWIA is an essential business partner to the wine producers and grape growers of South Australia.Members are encouraged to share their expertise via the Employee Relations, Work Health and Safety, and Environment Committees that deal with specific subjects, and provide a forum for the exchange of information, development of policy and new ideas.

F.H. Faulding (now Mayne Pharma) is a publicly listed, global company that researches, develops, markets and distributes pharmaceuticals and health-related consumer products.In this role, I was part of the corporate accounting team and responsible for consolidating group results under a newly implemented ERP system. When the business was acquired by Mayne Pharma, I supported head office’s transition to the new owners in Melbourne.
