Managed ISD’s video infrastructure, including 6 servers and 65 video systems stationed in PA, MN, and KY. Supervised 5 video engineers and 1 on-site IT support staff. Facilitated Root Cause Analysis issues using the Apollo method. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Electric Utilities VPI voice recorders - support included hardware/software upgrades and continuous application support. Successfully migrated six video servers to a new data center location on time and under budget.  Facilitated over thirty Root Cause Analysis studies using the Apollo method. For one RCA, we found that there was a design flaw in the building design which caused the overheating of the server room thus taking down the Transmission Management System (TMS) at that site. From this RCA, we found other sites with the same design flaw and were able to proactively resolve through our RCA recommendations.

Supervised a team based in Allentown, PA of six IT professionals responsible for the operational excellence of all PPL workstations. Work included programming Radia (SCCM) to push out or uninstall software remotely on laptops, workstations, and servers.  Increased efficiencies by setting processes that streamline the steps to push out software to laptops, workstations, and servers. This improved customer satisfaction.  Developed SOX compliant processes and metrics for the W&CS Workstation Operations group. This helped set a standard for operational excellence.  Served as a project coordinator for critical software rollouts. Effectively downsized workstation operations organization during the past two years to better align with the workload while improving customer support.  Oversaw day-to-day operational support and ensured SLA’s and metrics were met.

Managed a team of five IT professionals focused on supporting Dana’s engineering department. Hardware support included UNIX (HP, SUN and SGI, Linux) machines. Software support included: Microsoft OS, MS Office 97/2000/XP, IE 4/5/6, Lotus Notes, Palm, PylonPro, Secure Remote, WinZip, CuteFTP, PKzip, Netmeeting, CompuServe, Belarc, Hummingbird Exceed & Exceed 3D, Ghost, FlexLm, Vertias Backup, Catia (Unix & NT base), SDRC (Unix & NT base), Unigraphics, AutoCAD & Mechnical Desktop, Hyperworks Suite (Hypermesh), Solidworks, LS-Dyna, Fastlook, VisView, Autoform, Blanknest, Algor, MicroCadam Helix, FormTech, Sofy, EDCAT, Pamcrash, ANSA, and PDM Teamcenter. Successfully supported a local client base of over 250 Engineers. Additionally provided remote IT supports to satellite sites in Kentucky, Texas, Canada, Thailand, and Europe.  Streamlined and standardized from three UNIX platforms (HP, SUN, and SGI) to one, thus reducing support cost while improving product support.  Team leader for the IT section of Sarbanes Oxley. Responsibilities included developing and deploying Dana’s version of SOX/FIT processes to all Dana’s locations. Monitored and enforced the compliance of SOX/FIT processes.

Served as an analyst dedicated to supporting engineering hardware and software. This support included ordering, configuring, installing, maintaining, and consulting on CAD software and hardware. Our focus was a one shop stop turnkey operation for the engineering department.  Primary SME Catia V4 (Unix) and Catia V5 (NT) who successfully implemented Catia upgrades and patch rollouts.  Performed day-to-day technical support.  IT liaison for remote users in Kentucky, Texas, Canada, England, and India.

Engineer in the Transmission and Planning department focused on transmission studies using PSSE on a RISC 6000 a UNIX base OS. Load flow studies concentrated in Met-Ed, JCP&L and Penelec territory in the PJM arena.  Committee member of the MEN/VEN team which performed inter-regional transmission studies.  Performed engineering projects using SAS, Visual Basic 5, Excel, Access, Lotus Notes, and PowerPoint.  Developed a share data base on Lotus Notes to provide instructions on performing Stability, Relay Protection, Short Circuit Analysis, and other engineering studies. GPU Operational representative on PJM operating studies. Responsible for updating the Visual Basic 5 program code that calculated the flow of the NYPA hydro power contract.

Resident engineer located in the System Operation center which supported the system operators on real time load flow analysis. GPU liaison to PJM for summer and winter operations studies. Area of expertise included Met-Ed, JCP&L, and Penelec territory.  Committee member on PJM’s OAWG (Operations Analysis Working Group).  Provided daily operational support on problems that arose in the electrical systems. Developed and implemented in Excel & Access a Macro program that provided “What If” scenarios for calculating breakeven analysis for spinning reserve.

Engineer in System Economy department that focused on PSSE and Promod, both financial analysis tools. Responsibilities included modeling Promod to provide cost scenarios which helped management make critical financial decisions.  Wrote SAS programs to quantify Promod output and Interchange data. Performed numerous cost analysis studies including fuel oil, generation regulation, spinning reserve, installed capacity, and voltage study. These studies were used by management to determine the cost effectiveness of current and future contracts.

Trainee in the Management Development Program chosen to learn about the company and become part of future management at GPU. Rotated around the GPU system (Met-Ed, JCP&L, Penelec, and Service Corp).  Audits included monitoring GPU computer applications and canned programs developed for Engineering, Auditing, Financing, Operations, Customer Care, and Human Resource departments. This provided an overview on how a utility operated.  Performed an Installed Capacity audit and found, per this contract, that GPU energy was overcharged $135,000 and was able to recover this amount back for GPU.

Resident engineer located at the Oyster Creek Nuclear generating station. Duties included maintenance support for electrical and I&C equipment. Certified RTR Responsible Technical Reviewer.  Overhauled I&C preventative maintenance procedures for plant equipment. Achieved a 10% reduction in maintenance time.  Organized and streamlined the TSSIL Technical Specification Support Instruction List program that was later adopted as model for the electrical maintenance program. . Developed usage and maintenance processes for NPRDS (Nuclear Power Reliability Data Base) at Oyster Creek. Wrote SAS and Inquiry IV programs to support schedule preventative maintenance work.
