About Daniel J. Deng
Born, raised, and educated in the U.S., I’ve traveled across Africa, Asia and Europe facilitating collaboration across government, business, and non-governmental sectors. In the process, my passion for development has grown and I’ve come to see that sustainable technologies can and must reinforce universal values and build local economies. In this challenge, the private sector can be a mechanism for achieving greater harmony and balance among people(s) and with nature. This is the challenge of our generation and will require achieving certain pivots in how we do business.I have 20-years of experience in strategic planning and execution of humanitarian and development activities in Africa. From within African Governments, UN agencies, private sector corporations, and non-governmental organizations, I’ve honed my skills in results-oriented management. This includes design, execution, operations, monitoring, evaluation, facilitation, and learning. I currently serve as Team Lead for Community Partnerships at One Project, an Operating Non-Profit/Donor organization committed to co-creating alternative economic systems in partnership with communities worldwide.
Listed skills include Management, Project Management, African Development, Strategic Planning, and 5 others.

Community Partnerships, Team Lead
When humans designed civilization, we got something wrong. Specifically, we designed it for some people to dominate others and exploit nature in cruel ways. These bad intentions created dysfunctions in the economic system, and we now suffer the consequences. Extreme inequality, rampant environmental destruction, and war are signs of planetary crisis. Various systems collapses may appear unconnected, but all stem from this desire to turn the earth into money for a few people at the expense of all others and nature. As more people become aware that our civilizational design has failed us, we hear the call for a new design. Fundamental change is possible through the power of design. Humans possess genius, and once our intentions are clear, we can design alternatives that are more ecological, equitable, and effective. We can call this yet-to-be-designed alternative "the New Possible," designed to: enable all citizens to participate easily; deliver their basic needs, operate within planetary boundaries; guarantee communities' sovereign control over the resources we all need to survive and thrive. The new system will represent a catalytic upgrade to our current capitalist system. We can start building it at a community scale, working with individual communities worldwide to co-imagine alternative forms of production and distribution that make sense to them. Once their vision is clear, interested actors with the necessary resources can co-design with them the imagined systems. We can build a community of practice committed to such systems in the long term. Such a New Possible will take diverse contributions from folks from various walks of life. Maximum learning will come from optimizing for diversity! I primarily intend this LinkedIn page for those who believe in the primary thrust of this vision. Thanks for taking interest!
