My role was in modernisation, migrating a legacy mainframe payments system onto our modern platform.I’ve had to work hard to learn new technologies including Angular, Kubernetes and Oracle as well as get to grips with a large codebase as part of an even larger microservice-based global payments platform.I’ve also branched outside of my main role, volunteering my time to work on a greenfield project within the firm, a React/Spring/SQL social network designed to connect emerging talent within the business.

I was fortunate to be picked to make an internal transfer to a team developing a live-data analytics/business intelligence dashboard, leveraging the Mainframe as its database.This greenfield project was a great experience in taking full ownership of my own projects, working as a business analyst, designer and engineer all in one.This responsibility coupled with the boundless creativity was a massive developmental period in my career.I found a lot of value in working closely with stakeholders to align features with user needs, iterating on feedback often to improve user experience. Proudly presenting these new features to users and seeing the impact it had was such a fulfilling experience.Earned Certified AWS Cloud Practitioner status.

My first year at JPMorganChase was spent as part of the “Level-3” team, performing analysis, testing and development to improve STP rates, operations QOL. We were also responsible for responding to major incidents and answering level 3 tickets.I’d gone through a short period of training with Wiley Edge to go from 0 knowledge of the Mainframe to a competent developer with COBOL, JCL, Natural and ADABAS. I was able to implement my first code changes into production within 12 weeks of joining the team.I also worked a small stint with the “Change The Bank” team to implement large regulatory ISO20022 changes to the payments process. My payments knowledge really improved during this time, and our team won a Quarterly Excellence award for our efforts.
