Dan grew up in the motorsports industry at tracks like Ascot, Riverside, and Costa Mesa Speedway in California. His father, Dennis, was the photographer for Cycle News for 31 years. Dan's professional career started in 1993 as a high school student when he took over management of a martial arts school and grew it from 30 students to over 120 in his first 12 months of operation, increasing net profits by over 800%. Within 3 years, Dan had become a respected consultant on martial arts school operations. He was also a state champion, working closely with S Korean and US special forces as an instructor.In the late '90s, Dan began a successful wireless telecom career, during which he managed cellular infrastructure development for Verizon Wireless and T-mobile (then Omnipoint/VoiceStream) throughout the NY Metro region, personally developing over 200 cell sites valued over $300m. In 2000, Dan was identified as the youngest candidate for Director of a wireless telecom company in America and in the week of September 11, 2001 he lead a FEMA 9/11 recovery team at ground zero on behalf of Verizon. Following his wireless telecom experience, he took a junior executive position working for a NYC real estate developer which led Dan to open a high-end custom furniture and cabinetry business he would operate for 6 years before earning a Masters Degree in Entrepreneurship at a Forbes-ranked Top 10 program. Since graduating, Dan has participated in the creation, development, operation, and/or sale of several dozen companies and regularly leads business development project in the Defense/Aerospace, Motorsports, High Tech Manufacturing, Energy, and Life Sciences industries.Dan has worn many hats in the business community as a writer, speaker, consultant, advisor, and University lecturer on topics including fundraising, market research, organizational strategy, brand development, leadership, IP commercialization, team building, conflict resolution, business modeling, manufacturing, and mental health. Favorite methodologies include Lean Startup, Business Model Canvas, and Blue Ocean Strategy.Dan has spent 30+ years in the martial arts industry, was a member of the US Martial Arts team, and a 2x World Martial Arts Games silver medalist. He was a combatives instructor for 11 years during which he taught military SOF/SF and law enforcement from the US, UK, Israel, S Korea, and Philippines. In his free time, Dan is a Porsche enthusiast, woodworker, and photographer.
