I'm an enthusiastic lecturer in microbiology, with a keen interest in student wellbeing and pastoral support. I a unit director of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (y1) and Bench to Bedside and Beyond (y2), as well as supervising year 3 undergraduate project students, and taught Masters students. My previous experience includes biofilms, microbial interactions, microbiome research, tissue engineering of 3D models for infection modelling and host responses to infections.I run a public engagement outreach group called Show Me The Science. The group aim to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders and encourage participation and engagement of children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds, and areas of higher levels of socio-economic depravation.I'm proud to represent the sciences as a STEM ambassador, and Champion of the Microbiology Society.
