Helping FS Studio with Rust development on behalf of a client.

Oversaw a team of four engineers building out our API service endpoints. Was involved in scheduling, planning, design, and mentoring.Designed and implemented the core public facing REST API service while under a tight two month ‘go-live’ deadline. Approximately 7000 lines of Rust code written with zero crashes in production.Mentored other developers inside the company on Rust development, resources, and technology.

Developed and deployed a near real-time calculation engine based on Postgres/JSONB and NodeJS which resulted in a significant cost savings ( ~80% ) compared to the legacy Java system.Streamlined, simplified, and improved the process of building and testing code against a large third party hardware and software platform, improving developer productivity and reducing testing pain points.Led the adoption of Google Cloud which simplified developer administration of cloud resources leading to cost and time savings.

Oversaw a team of 3 junior developers, providing mentoring, technical guidance, planning, and designDesign lead, oversaw development of the primary application suite, and built accessory apps to speed workflow in other parts of the company.Was the primary contributor in the creation of patent US8719066 which specifies a semantic model for capturing and organizing hierarchical and interrelated data for a variety of industries.Developed a novel graph based solution on top of existing RDBMS systems (SQLite, PostgreSQL) to support import, cleaning, and validation of messy unstructured customer data sources which reduced inventory time by 80% versus spreadsheets.

Developed and maintained Java/C/C++ programs to support, enhance, and extend the modeling and simulation infrastructure of future DOD weapons systems.Integrated low level embedded systems with Java using a variety of techniques, including direct serial communications, and ethernet / raw Java socket programming. Created both Swing and J2EE interfaces to various parts of the simulation framework, thereby improving it's usability and flexibility for non-technical users.Installed, configured, and upgraded software packages on several Linux workstations in support of the above activities, including kernel upgrades, network settings, and other troubleshooting activities.
