Throughout my nursing career I have had a number of clinical, educational research and administrative experiences that build on my interests in creativity, innovation, self-regulation, clinical reasoning and futures thinking. Current work focuses on building curriculum and resources to educate next generation nursing leaders about clinical reasoning, as well as foresight and futures thinking in nursing and health care.

The Densford Center strengthens and builds the capacity of nursing leadership to promote health and well-being nationally and internationally. The mission of the Densford Center is to: Develop the anticipatory leadership skill sets of nurses through the application and use of futures thinking and foresight strategies, tools and techniques.Convene and connect communities of practice, learning, and research regarding the creation of a desired 21st Century health care future.Educate, coach, and build the competency and confidence of emerging nurse leaders to know and understand themselves, their strengths, weaknesses, relationships and how to foster and motivate effective teams.Inspire innovation in nursing education, practice and research through the application of complexity science and innovative design thinking principles that support creativity and quality improvements in nursing and health care.Communicate the value and impact of nursing influence on policy, practices and pressing contemporary issues in health care and the sustainability of healthy communities and the health of the planet.

Provided strategic and administrative direction in development, implementation, modification, and evaluation of graduate curricula. Assumed primary leadership to ensure accreditation of graduate programs.Led academic program re-prioritization reduced program offerings at graduate level from 13 to 8 majors. Collaborated with Department Chairs to assign faculty teaching responsibilities cognizant of institutional needs, expertise needed, productivity goals, and agreed-upon standards for workload. Supported recruitment of quality students to graduate programs and monitors effectiveness of educational experience.Expanded resources through obtaining contracts, grants, and student fellowships.

Created a shared governance and leadership model for 60 faculty through use of appreciative inquiry and a strengths based approach to leadership and management.
