As a licensed professional engineer and a business development manager at Burns & McDonnell, my number one priority is helping our electric utility clients achieve success with their complex projects.My responsibilities as business development manager includes the overall management of Substation business development, marketing, and positioning for emerging business opportunities. I started my career at Burns & McDonnell as an intern in the summer of 2011. During my internship, I oversaw the cable schedule for the Eagle substation (EPC project). I was also in charge of AC, DC, cable schedule and COMM schedule for Eliot Substation (115-kV switchyard, IEC 61850 implementation). Additionally, I served on the Smart Grid lab team and participated in relay removal, wiring and schematic design in preparation for an IEC 61850 workshop.My experience includes design engineering for electrical substations ranging in voltage from 13-kV to 345-kV, and my work includes the substation protection & controls design, AC & DC station service, grounding analysis and design, IEC 61850, cable scheduling and project management.I am finalizing my master’s degree in business administration from Rockhurst University set to graduate in May of 2021, and received my bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from The University of Missouri Science & Technology.Utilities and developers face new challenges within our industry on a daily basis. What began as an internship with Burns & McDonnell has grown into a career as an Electrical Engineer in the Substation Group of the company’s Transmission & Distribution division.My focus includes the design of substation projects ranging from 13-kV through 345-kV, as well as grounding analysis and design, lightning protection design, AC and DC station service analysis and design, control schematics and wiring diagrams.As my project experience continues to grow, I’ve fulfilled a number of other project-related duties including coordinating design activities with project engineers in order to meet compliance with design practices. I’ve also provided AC station service analysis and design and cable quantity estimates.
