My name is Daniel Weber and I graduated summa cum laude from DePaul University within the Keeley Center Academy while majoring in Finance and minoring in Accounting and Management. Currently, I am an Associate on BMO’s Sponsor Finance team. During my time at DePaul, I was selected into DePaul's Keeley Center Academy – a two-year co-curricular program for high potential, high performing Finance majors pursuing Banking, Capital Markets, and Investment Management careers. Academy program initiatives are focused on career readiness, professional development, technical competencies, interpersonal skills, and related work experience. I am grateful to be a part of the academy as it was not until my junior year that I learned about and realized the importance of internships in finance. This realization is something that I personally want to make sure that I impart to young students who are in the same position that I was once in. My desire to give back to students, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, was realized during the summer of 2020 when recent racial tensions brought on the realization that there is a significant disconnect within the industry. These events made me even more aware of the fact that students who might not have someone in their families that work in finance are at a significant disadvantage mainly in terms of recruiting and finding the right career path. With these realizations in mind and friends with the same mindset, we created DePaul Inclusion in Finance (DIF), a new organization at DePaul University focused on bridging the gap between qualified diverse candidates and careers in finance by equipping them with the materials, guidance, and connections so that they are competitive within the field.
