He doesn't wait to be presented with a task: he finds things which needs to be done, and he completes them with an amazing efficiency which impresses everyone around him. For example, with a task estimated to take a month, in Dan's hands took *one weekend*. The entire team knows if Dan is working on a task, it *will* get done. As a software engineer for BAT (Biometrics Application Toolset), I am responsible for designing, developing and testing enhancements as requested by the client. To improve product quality I designed and implemented a Unit Testing harness, utilizing the .NET 4.0 Unit Testing framework, FakeItEasy. Using reflection this testing harness allows other engineers to quickly and easily stand up their own set of unit tests without having to spend time setting up the dependency injection layer or faking commonly used objects. I am in the process of evangelizing full usage of unit tests along with “Test Driven Development” and “Tell, Don’t Ask” principles to help make future code more robust and decoupled. As part of this effort, I have also contributed to the FakeItEasy open source GitHub project, expanding the functionality for the .NET community. In my spare time, I have forked and expanded the Titan Graph Database repository in GitHub to support Accumulo, a distributed BigTable implementation originally developed by the NSA. I also have setup and configured a Hadoop multi-node cluster with Accumulo and ZooKeeper.

I was responsible for the design, development, and maintainability of a suite of Web Applications that help the DoD achieve higher medical readiness standards for their reserve branches. These web applications utilize primarily .NET 4.0 technologies with a SQL 2008 backend. In this role, I designed and developed solutions in C# as well as worked with the other developers on my team to help improve their skills and quality of their work. I also served as the lead technical resource for the migration of several applications to the National Guard Bureau’s data processing center. In this migration effort, I worked with the security officer to analyze, design, and implement solutions to meet application and database level STIG’s and was able to present an application suite with zero Category I or Category II findings during the first ACA visit. This allowed us to receive our system’s accreditation very quickly. I also designed and helped implement a .NET Framework 4.0 Architecture that utilizes modern day design patterns to allow for strong Unit Testing throughout a suite of applications. Developed and led several Hands-On labs to mentor and introduce new technologies to other developers.

I was also solely responsible for the analysis, documentation, design, development, testing and debugging of a .NET 2.0/SQL 2005 Web Based solution to track, maintain and manage the shipping and transportation needs of a large US based distributor This included database and application performance tuning.

I was responsible for analyzing current paper based business processes and mainstreaming them through the use of a technical solution. In this responsibility, I worked with a small team to lead the .NET/SQL 2000 applications through the entire development life cycle. I also designed, maintained, and tuned the current SQL 2000 Databases. I also converted several VB6 applications to VB.net. On a special assignment, I worked with a small, unique group to convert computers on the Marshall Field’s Network to the May Company Network.
