About Daniel Kennedy
An experienced filmmaker, writer and communicator with strong-held beliefs that society has a duty to look after the needs of its most vulnerable. Likes to work with organisations who value their staff and clearly understand that social impact is as important as profit. We work for all kinds of companies on their internal and external comms – often spending time with their colleagues in areas of society deemed hard-to reach - the homeless, the elderly and those with mental health challenges. Yep, we can make bright and sparkly corporate brand videos full of life and bursting with warmth but we can also tackle thornier films looking at the challenges developers face building on greenbelt land, or constructing windfarms in areas of natural beauty. We’ve spent the last 12 years working closely with Places For People, the UK’s largest not-for-dividend placemaker and also create output for housing associations, schools, universities, inward investment and tourism organisations. We’re dead good at simplifying complex subjects and we’ve helped our clients win multi-million pound tenders with films that explain masterplans to local authorities and government bodies. Most recently, we produced a film about robots for inward investment agency MIDAS for the New York Times and also delivered a film for Manchester University training post-graduate scientists in flow cytometry! On a personal note, I produced, presented and wrote a hard-hitting documentary for ITV, Britain’s Hidden Killer, on pancreatic cancer following the sudden death of my dad, and regard myself as an independent campaigner and outspoken commentator on a cancer that is predicted to be the second biggest killer in the USA within ten years. HISTORY IN A NUTSHELL:Started out as a trainee at Lynne Franks PR way back in 1990 and then went on to work alongside Matthew Freud planning the opening of Planet Hollywood in London. Retrained as a journalist at the London College of Printing, became a staff writer and Features Editor on Ventures Business magazine (a Loaded for wannabe millionaires). I shimmied into higher level comms working with former MEN Showbiz Editor and old friend, Andy Spinoza, and Geraldine Vesey, building agency SKV Communications, before leaving after 12 years to set up PAPER FILMS. CAREER HIGHLIGHT: I made a witty film call J’aime La Tour which shot Blackpool to look like Paris. It won 22 marketing and PR Awards (including PR WEEK GOLD), was shortlisted for an RTS and won the Guardian Media Innovation Award in 2010.

I take full responsibility for kit build, lighting, directing and camera-work. Editor
As well as writing, directing, producing and shooting I also edit. With many years of experience on a variety of editing, colour grading and motion graphics software, I love the chance to take a film I’ve written and directed through the edit process and ensuring it delivers exactly what our clients want. My current main editing software is Premier Pro in conjunction with After Effects.
