Daniel Keohane is Senior Research Fellow and Lecturer in International Relations at Dublin City University (DCU), mostly researching European security, national strategic cultures, the EU, and NATO. Before that he worked at the Centre for European Reform (CER) in London, European Movement Ireland (EMI) in Dublin, the Center for Security Studies (CSS) at ETH Zürich, the Foundation for International Relations (FRIDE) in Brussels and Madrid, the European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) in Paris, the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) at the National Defense University (NDU) in Washington DC, and the Aspen Institute in Berlin. Daniel was a columnist for the Strategic Europe blog of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace from 2015-2018, a member of the executive academic board of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) from 2007-2011, and a co-opted member of the committee of the University Association for Contemporary European Studies (UACES) from 2003-2006. He has testified on EU foreign, security, and defence policies before committees at the Irish Oireachtas (Parliament), the UK House of Commons, and the European Parliament; and has also advised several European governments and carried out studies (both alone and as part of consortia) commissioned by the European Union and NATO. He is regularly invited to speak at conferences organised by governments, think tanks and international organisations; and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Cambridge, King’s College London, L'Institut d'études politiques de Paris and New York University.He has written articles for academic journals such as Survival, Journal of Common Market Studies, International Spectator, Política Exterior, Aspenia and Défense Nationale. His media work has included TV and radio interviews on Al Jazeera, BBC, Sky News, France 24, CNN and Fox News and he has been quoted in (amongst others): The Economist, Financial Times, New York Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, Die Zeit and El País.
