I made the leap from management consulting and healthcare to starting Reforest in 2018 for reasons that many people share:I have a still have a petrol car and am conscious of the CO2 created with every km I drive.I recognise that every flight I take puts the fragile ecosystems and human communities that I want to visit at even greater risk. When I buy my weekly groceries I know the products I buy have both a carbon and an ecological footprint. Almost every dollar I spend damages the planet. But it doesn’t have to be this way.I want to grow my own forest and watch it remove carbon emissions and preserve biodiversity as it grows. I want to track my personal impact on the planet and see it turn positive.I want to offer my support to help the companies that I buy from to change faster. I want to help bring about a new economy that restores the planet, instead of damaging it. Reforest is the tool that lets me do that. It enables all of us to grow our own forest by planting trees in local projects that will remove carbon emissions and preserve biodiversity. It lets us give our retailers a friendly nudge to ask them to join us and collaboratively make every transaction restorative. It takes our personal impact, makes it tangible and visible, and amplifies it to drive real change. Reforest lets individuals and organisations step up and lead the transition to a restorative economy, and earn real-world benefits for doing so. I have worked for and advised multinationals, and I’ve started and run small businesses. I try to keeping learning and challenging my own assumptions every day. I think the best solutions emerge from a deep understanding of the perspective and needs of all the different stakeholders involved, so I’m eager to chat about how we can work together for a larger impact.
