Daniel completed his undergraduate Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), University of New South Wales (NSW) in 2011. He completed his Master of Public Health (MPH) (University of Queensland) in 2017. He is currently appointed as a Clinical Fellow, in Upper GI Surgery, Royal North Shore Hospital, Australia, as part of AANZGOSA post-fellowship training. He completed post-fellowship Upper GI Surgery training at Prince of Wales Hospital, Hong Kong (SAR) China (2019-20), St George Hospital, Sydney (2022), and The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (2023). Daniel both teaches supervises and examines undergraduate students. Daniel has broad interests in the fields of Upper Gastrointestinal; Surgical Oncology; Hernia and Bariatric Surgery; and Interventional Endoscopy and ERCP. He is a keen early career researcher having presented at a number of international conferences and with over 40 peer-reviewed journal publications. (http://med.unsw.edu.au/people/dr-daniel-chan) He is completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Western Sydney University) and was the 2020-21 Sir Roy McCaughey Research Scholar (Royal Australasian College of Surgeons). Daniel is an active community volunteer. He was a member of St John Ambulance Australia (NSW) for almost two decades (2004-2022), serving in various positions including as Divisional Superintendent, Divisional Medical Officer, and on the NSW States Council (2011-2013). He was appointed as a Member of the Order of St John (MStJ), and received his St John Long Service Medal and bar (15 years effective service).
