I am a graduate of Pepperdine University with a Bachelors Degree in English Literature, and a graduate of New York University’s Summer Publishing Institute. I have held positions as a contributing writer and copy editor for three California-based magazines—bask Magazine, South Bay DIGS and Westside DIGS—and most recently, as Editor of North Scottsdale Lifestyle, Paradise Valley Lifestyle and Chandler Lifestyle Magazines.As Editor of North Scottsdale, Paradise Valley and Chandler Lifestyle, I held many roles critical to the well thought-out and timely production of the magazines on a monthly basis. This included keeping my communication and organizational skills on point in a fast-paced and demanding environment as I worked closely with the publishers to coordinate articles for advertisers and local individuals. As all three magazines are published on a monthly basis, I diligently adhered to strict timelines and deadlines for pitching and overseeing the completion of writer articles, coordinating photo shoots, writing my own articles, and editing all content to be uploaded by the final deadline. This area of my work took much discipline, but I found that through careful planning and open communication with all entities involved deadlines were met with ease each month. My position also had a creative aspect as well. I utilized the writing and design skills I had acquired over the years to come up with fresh, innovative stories and create eye-catching layouts to reflect the look of a lifestyle publication that would appeal to readers in each magazine’s respective markets. I believe that both my management and editorial background provide me with a unique skill set that would be an ideal fit for a position in the writing, editing and publishing industry.
