Cincinnati Area Chapter serves 24 counties in the tri-state area and responds to 800+ disasters a year. Started as an administrative assistant in 2000, advancing through increasingly responsible positions; becoming Casework Specialist in 2003, and Emergency Services Supervisor in 2006. Duties have ranged from direct client care services during catastrophic events and providing emergency messaging and briefings to Armed Forces personnel, to developing/presenting educational programs for social workers, other healthcare professionals and community.Supervisor II, Emergency Services - Coordinate the efforts of physicians, nurses, and volunteers providing case management and mental health services to Armed Forces personnel and their families. Provide assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, financial assistance, and referral and advocacy based on a comprehensive, individualized service plan to individuals affected by disasters. Provide information, liaison, advocacy and referral services to ensure clients (both military and disaster) receive appropriate benefits, resources and services provided by other agencies. Supervise casework staff through daily consultation, and weekly individual and group meetings to ensure effective service provision on both an individual and a team level. Intervene or direct staff interventions to resolve difficult or crisis situations while modeling intervention techniques for subordinate staff. Assess and evaluate workers' and units' level of functioning and developmental needs to facilitate improved service quality, professional growth and skills development through direction, support, training and teamwork. Developed and maintained $100,000 budget for Disaster Services in Administrative Unit.

Women's Advocate Provide services within the empowerment model developed by the Michigan Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Board and adopted by the YWCA to victims of domestic violence. Provide client directed services including crisis intervention, counseling, case management, advocacy, referral, support groups and follow-up. Inform program participants about choices and options regarding economic, legal, social, health, and other basic needs. Maintain program participant records, collect statistics and submit reports for United Way funding.
