We work hands on with our multiple species of stingrays and sharks at our stingray pool, assisting guests in feeding, touching, and having wonderful experiences while also providing opportunities to learn more about three animals and how to protect our oceans. We work closely with keepers to ensure animal safety and comfort at all times. We interpret, teach, and have positive interactions with guests at other animal exhibits using our animals' stories, biofacts, and interactive activities. We are responsible for many specialized education programs such as giving walking animal tours, one on one programs with children, special events and holidays, animal birthdays, animal awareness days, and special exhibits. We work very well with children, must be highly adaptable to change, work in all weather conditions, be comfortable with people in many different capacities, and we work closely with keepers and our keeper liaisons. It is our job to make people care about animals and want to take action to protect them.

Overseeing multiple employees in different zones of the zoo who operate rides, booths, animal exhibits, and take tickets to make sure all jobs are being done correctly and efficiently and to resolve any problems that may get in the way of regular zoo operations such as resolving issues with guests, dealing with last minute schedule changes with our staff, or dealing with technical difficulties. A lot of training for new employees and a fair amount of paperwork and record keeping, multitasking, running around, long work hours, late nights, and problem solving is conducted as a supervisor. I assisted in the care and rehabilitation of sick and injured birds of prey, handled both residential and wild birds, recorded data, assisted in physical exams, participated in releases back into the wild, administered medication, fluids, and fed and cleaned up after the animals in the hospital and in our outside mews on both our upper and lower sites, including the handfeeding of multiple birds in different conditions of health every day. We worked in all weather conditions and on weekends and holidays.
