Veterinary Technician
Current*Rabies vaccinated. *Ensure the comfort of patients within the hospital. *Restrain patients for various procedures. *Handling of fractious animals properly and safely. *Position and take x-rays. *Run various lab work such as hematology and urinalysis. *Prep and view slides under the microscope (including but not limited to urine sediments, ear smears,fecals, etc.).*Administer medications, vaccinations and injections. *Administer SQ fluids. *Calculate drug doses and administer them properly. *Log controlled substances. *Place endotracheal tubes and hook up patients to anesthesia. *Monitor patients both during surgery and post-op. *Clip and clean patients under multiple circumstances (i.e. surgery prep, sanitary clip, etc.). *Capable of drawing blood, as well as catheter placement and removal. *Fill medications to be sent home with patients. *Knowledge and experience performing neonatal care. *Proper set up and subsequent clean up of surgery suite. *Proper sterilization and wrapping of surgery tools. *Basic hospital stocking and cleaning.
