I’m a dedicated and adaptable social worker with a wealth of experience in both city and rural local authorities in the North East of England. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse age groups, from older adults to working-age individuals. This journey has given me a well-rounded perspective and taught me how to tailor my approach to suit the unique needs and challenges of the communities here.I have working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005, using this legislation on a daily basis in my roles since 2018. My experience assists me to support the rights and wellbeing of the people I work with.Since qualifying in 2018, I have effectively applied the 3 Conversation Model in my social work practice. This structured approach has allowed me to build strong, empathetic relationships with the people I work with. These experiences have further developed my skills in active listening, empathy, partnership-building, and person-centered planning, improving my ability within my role.In my quest for professional growth, I’m currently pursuing post-graduate qualifications in social work because I’m truly committed to this field. I believe that ongoing studies will elevate my skills and knowledge to better serve as a social worker. Next year, I plan to return to university for an MA part-time. I’m diligent about mandatory training, committed to continuous professional development, and regularly reflect on my practice, both in supervision and on my own.One of my real passions in this field is mentoring and supporting new staff and students. It’s incredibly rewarding to share my experiences and knowledge to help others navigate the often challenging world of social work. Being part of a supportive work environment is essential, as it shapes the social work profession itself, instilling the principles and values that guide our work.Additionally, I have valuable experience as a domestic violence outreach worker, where I provided vital support to survivors. This role required a great deal of sensitivity, empathy, and a deep understanding of the complex issues involved. I worked in a women’s refuge and had some involvement with Children and Families social work, though I’ve found my true calling in Adult Social Care at this stage of my career.
