Cultural Contexts for Jewellery - an in-depth journey through the history of jewellery and objects all the way to the best of contemporary practice.Professional Practice - a practical step-by-step course in developing a viable jewellery and object design practice. Includes business mindset, creative business planning, marketing, sales, preparation of professional documents and portfolio presentation.Exemplars of Jewellery Design Practice - A hands-on course in learning from successful practitioners to help identify future goals. Involves researching and interviewing outstanding creative practitioners - learning from their successes and mistakes.

Jewellery Making (beginner to advanced). Students learn how to work in silver and a range of other precious and non-precious materials. Beginning with basic cold joining projects in sterling silver, students learn to heat condition metals, saw, planish, file, emery, solder, finish and polish. Students also learn making and maintainance of basic silversmithing tools.Returing students learn more advanced techniques depending on their selected project. These include advanced soldering, riveting, texturing, stone setting, doming, married metals, punching, inlay, fold forming, laminating, wire knitting and crochet.

Jewellery and Object Design and Making. As a jeweller, designer and artist, I passionately believe in the power of jewellery and objects in our lives - from protective talismans and symbols of commitment and love to political statements and public declarations of independence. Our jewellery is often our most treasured possession and expresses who we are without the need for words.I design and make one-off exhibition pieces, limited edition production ranges and personalised commission pieces. My work ranges from small pieces of precious jewellery to large objects worked in welded steel.My exhibition work is a vehicle to express my concerns, beliefs, frustrations and dreams. Often abstracted forms, both wearables and objects to hold, they are created in a diverse array of materials and speak of identity, memories and emotion.My retail production work consists of collections of elegant, quirky, often colourful jewellery.
