Danielle Callender is the Catering Event Coordinator at Grand Valley State University.All communications with clients begin with Danielle, who uses her customer service skills to build and maintain relationships. While planning an event, she enjoys getting to know the client so she can bring their vison to life. She uses her excellent communication skills to gather and relay pertinent information to her team members. Attention to detail is key in her role in creating a flawlessly executed event. In addition to planning events, Danielle oversees the office administrative duties, juggling multiple responsibilities in this fast-paced environment. Danielle values innovation and continually searches for methods to improve and streamline processes.Prior to her current role, Danielle worked as a Lead Chef for nearly a decade, where she gained management experience in the culinary world. As a chef, she valued safe food handling and became Serve Safe Certified. Before becoming a Lead Chef, she was an Executive Administrative Assistant where she honed her client relation expertise. She excels in her current position by combining her culinary knowledge with the customer service and planning skills she gained from these previous positions.Danielle won “The Guest Whisperer” award to acknowledge her achievement in customer service excellence. She attributes this to her focus on making a unique connection with each client, her lighthearted humor, and her background in psychology. She has an Associates of Arts degree with a focus in psychology. Danielle won a scholarship through her company and is currently enrolled at Arizona State University where she plans to acquire a Business degree in Human Resources.In her personal time Danielle loves to read, hike, kayak, camp and spend time with her loved ones.
