As a Resident Assistant I have learned to adapt in difficult situations. I have learned the importance of confidentiality, when to get the local police force involved and what to do in certain high tense situations. In some of these situations, I have had to use good character judgement to act accordingly and get the help that the resident needed at that time. In doing this I have learned what it takes to be able to think fast in order to help others while also retaining the information that I have learned when I was being trained to help the residents to the best of my ability. I have also had the opportunity to have creative freedom when it comes to the bulletin boards that are due every month that engages the residents to learn about what is going on around campus and/or what to do in certain scenarios. I have had to come up with different ideas for programs that are either on my floor, or with the whole building about things that the residents might be interested in, while having it educational and has to be engaging in order for residents to show up. I have also created a healthy, positive community on the floors that I have lived on. I have bonded the residents to have a certain community around them with their fellow floor mates while also having them be comfortable enough if something is going on with them, their friends and/or their roommates. I have given advice when it was needed to residents in order for them to succeed in their everyday life, as well as their academic careers. Residents have came to me with concerns and I have had to act accordingly to those concerns at a rapid pace in order for the person in question get help as needed to the best of my ability.

While working at Chick-Fil-A I have worked in a fast pace, always evolving environment that can help me use my quick thinking skills to adapt to a customers needs. I have used those skills that I have learned in my everyday life by being prepared for things that might come up. I also used my communication skills when preparing orders and customer service skills when talking to a customer about any and everything they might need. There have also been opportunities where I had to adapt and use my basic American Sign Lamguage skills to communicate with a customer as best I could to make sure to get their order right with satisfaction.
