About Danielle Captain-Webb

I am a Gomeroi and Wiradjuri woman born and raised on Darkinjung Country. I am a Senior Solicitor who has a strong interest in the Legal System, Justice Reinvestment and Aboriginal Affairs. I am passionate about working with Aboriginal people and communities and creating social impact within the justice system to ensure just and equitable outcomes are achieved. It is this same passion that has motivated me to pursue a career at Legal Aid NSW and be involved in the Law Society of NSW. I have a vast experience advocating, representing and leading change in the justice system - particularly, but not limited to the criminal justice and coronial inquest space. I also have a demonstrated history implementing change, operationalising strategy, leading the design and implementation of a new team and program at Legal Aid and leading a high performing and diverse team of lawyers. This experience has seen me involved in strategic operational planning, advisory to senior executives and coordination and engagement of varied stakeholders to achieve organisational outcomes, whilst building and driving strategic change. I am currently completing my Masters of Social Change Leadership with Melbourne University as part of the Atlantic Fellows for Social Equity. My social change project is focused on reimagining the coronial inquest system in NSW for Aboriginal people, families and communities to ensure truth, healing and justice. I have completed a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice from the University of New South Wales (UNSW), a Graduate Diploma of Legal Pratice from The College of Law and have been admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales as a Solicitor. In 2023 I completed my Masters of Business Administration (MBAX) - Social Impact at UNSW which provided me with an in-depth understanding of the interactions of complex problems within Aboriginal communities and the legal system and how to achieve systems change.
