Take it from me a little time and extra effort can save a child's life. I have been with the Eastview Boys and Girls Club for 15 years now. I started as a volunteer. Soon after feel in love with the club! I loved the work that it did for children and youth! I loved the staff and most of all I loved feeling like I was meant to be somewhere. When I turned 15 I was hired for an afterschool counsellor and I loved every minute of it. Playing games, singing songs, doing crafts and just getting to know the chidlren who seemed to come out each and every day. After a few years of this I started wanting more. My boss allowed me the opportunity to help out in the evening and Youth programs. Again loved every minute of it. Seeing some of the memebrs that moved up into the youth program was exciting for me! While another FANTASIC opportunity landed in my lap. I was asked to fill some of the biggest shoes I would ever have to fill. I became the Program Coordinator for the Eastview Unit (yes we have two different units). I then left to have a baby and of course came right back to work in the Nursery School for the year. Had another baby and of course (they just cannot get rid of me) came back to do the little odd jobs (because ... yes I was pregnant again). Left and now I am back (with no babies in sight te he) as the Volunteer Coordinator oh boy is there a lot to know. I am interested in meeting people who are looking to share ideas working with volunteers, both youth, adults and seniors. I would also like to learn more about what is out there for volunteers, posting ads and where to do so, and much more I am sure once I connect with someone we can figure it all outSpecialties: TrainingTrying to do a lot on ZERO dollars
