As the MMDI Unit Engineer, Danielle is responsible for day-to-day performance and production of the one of the 2 Isocyanates (MMDI) production units, Utilities, Tank Farm and Logistics areas. She was part of the team that led the turnaround/startup of the MMDI production unit from being idled for 6 months, serving primarily as the EHS focal point for this effort. She is also responsible as a project manager/manufacturing rep in all of these 4 areas as well. As the Small Projects Group Leader, she is also the manager of the engineering group on site of 4 contractors and 1 Dow employee. Some of her main contributions include implementing a new project execution checklist for the group, and updating and owning the Project Specific Technology Plan (PSTP) for the MMDI/Logistics areas.

Her group has implemented the operate plant work process to >93% in 2 years and has reached stage 1 empowerment at all of the sites. She has also been given other responsibilities to grow her leadership experience, such as leading an interview team, creating a budget, facilitating the Emergency Operations Planning Committee, and facilitating a group reorganization. Outside of her immediate job role, she has also been fundamental in implementing 2 employee networks on site, the New Professionals Network and the Women’s Innovation Network. The New Professionals Network has held numerous events over the last 2 years and has been successful with retaining new engineers. The Women’s Innovation Network in the Houston Hub was recognized as the most active chapter in Dow North America in 2011, holding many events and increasing membership by 200% in its inaugural year.

Implemented and led the Methacrylates Improvement team and was recognized during internal audit as best improvement team on site. Served as Process Safety Focal Point for the Methacrylates plant by collecting data and leading efforts for various LPP gap assessments, led effort to complete monomer handling gap assessment for MMA/GMAA and conducted formal and informal RCIs on near misses.

Provide the 8 Glacial Acrylic Acid units with daily troubleshooting support and work between operations and technical managers to complete small projects that would allow the units to have improved reliability and increased yield. Updated unit’s DMC+ model to run unit and continued to update based on various run conditions feed to increase DMC+ utilization. Completed 2 small projects- Installed actuators and conducted training for HAZREC project, and Installed radar level on inhibitor tank to avoid overfilling and pluggage.

Process engineering design and support for various global sites, including Distillation and Hydraulic modeling- Experience in AspenPlus, FRI, PipeFlo. Worked as a temporary assignment in Texas to investigate infrastructure/utility issues in Nitrogen and DI water usage-Found 2 valves using excess nitrogen and cut plant nitrogen usage by $80M/yr. Installed Auxiliary Thermal Oxidizer as an environmental-based fast-track project for Acrylates Turnaround in 2008.Served as Lead Process Engineer- designed operating conditions for use of temporary thermal oxidizer for 40 days, made decisions for tie-in points to existing unit and placement, coordinated with turnaround group and trained operations on use, supervised emission stack testing and monitoring for duration of operation- resulted in savings of $1.2MM in natural gas savings during turnaround.
