I am currently on the ASPIRE Programme at Close Brothers which is a school leaver programme that gives you the opportunity to gain experience in the financial services industry while studying. I completed my first placement within the retail division of Close Brothers Bank working in Close Brothers Motor Finance. I completed my first placement within the retail division of Close Brothers Bank working in Close Brothers Motor Finance. For me this was a fantastic experience which allowed me to develop my communication skills and knowledge on finance products having little prior experience. Within Close Brothers Motor Finance I spent a few months in different departments which allowed me to see the end to end process of a finance agreement including underwriting. This for me was one of my favourite roles I experience so much so I was able to earn my £10k mandate rather quickly, which was very rewarding. I recently began my second year on the programme now within the commercial division of the bank at Close Brothers Asset Finance. Baring in mind I have only been here 2 months it has already been a great leaning experience. It has further developed my knowledge on the different finance products and what processes are required for regulated and unregulated deals. I am confident my knowledge and skills will continue to grow as I work at Close. Show less

Wakefield And Harrogate

I began working with Brantano Footwear as a part time sales assistant while at college. My confidence grew greatly while there as is centres on customer services. Part of the job was selling shoe care products (which can be challenging when sometimes the shoes are cheaper than the products!) Ensuring individual and shop targets were met. This was a good experience to pick up certain sale techniques which I have carried over to my current employment. My confidence grew greatly while there as is centres on customer services. Part of the job was selling shoe care products (which can be challenging when sometimes the shoes are cheaper than the products!) Ensuring individual and shop targets were met. This was a good experience to pick up certain sale techniques which I have carried over to my current employment. As time went on I became proficient in most aspects of my role: an experienced shoe fitter; confident with the banking procedure; supervisor tasks such as refund; stock tacking and re-merchandising shop floors. At this point when I left college I became a full time employee which lead to the offer of opening an supervising a new convenience shop within the Beales store in Harrogate. This was a brilliant time at Brantanos as it allowed me to be independent and creative with how I supervised the shop and the staff. While I was there I maintained the stock doing regular audits; created marketing displays; trained staff and regularly hit the store target for product sale. I left the company to join Close Brothers but I have maintained a lot of the skills I learnt while working here. Show less
