Having been involved in humans genetics for nearly 30 years, my experience is extensive and varied. While I started out in one of the few labs in the world that offered molecular genetic testing at the time, I also developed a multitude of genetic assays that led to improved diagnostic outcomes for patients, now known as pharmacogenetics and these tests had substantially lower turn around time than the current assays on the market at that time.My real interest is on providing treatments to help considerably more patients with rare and/or terminal illnesses. I was fortunate to work with leaders in the antisense oligo space and I've designed, guided and regularly presented my own research projects on a multitude of syndromes and diseases using strategies such as but limited to; exon skipping, isoform switching, altering the level of protein production, altering transcription levels, etc.Currently, I am working casually providing support and sharing my experiences with a lovely team however I will be looking to get involved in something substantial in the new year.
