Hello, my name is Danielle Louise Eccles. I am a freelancer actor, technician, stage manager and applied and community arts facilitator. I am a theatre student majoring in applied and community arts and use different forms of theatre to tackle taboo subjects. Since starting my career in theatre, I have had two major accomplishments along with a handful of areas of personal self-development. One major accomplishment was when I was stage managing a performance and we had two months left of preparing for the show dates but this had to be cut short and meant everything had to be done within a week due to the venue having to close for the COVID-19 national lockdown. Another major accomplishment came from when I was facilitating at a school and I was able to use applied theatre in order to improve their mental health and teach them new ways of expressing themselves which did not involve self harm.Some theatre makers don’t want to try unconventional materials because they have certain audiences and they create content for them whereas for me I want to start challenging what is conventional and tackle all the taboo subjects. I want to make theatre accessible to as many people as possible. I am very good at reading an audience and knowing what they want as I am good at listening to them and seeing a trend in their like, dislikes and engagement. I am willing to try anything and if it doesn’t work out it is just a learning curve to develop.The next few months, I am hoping to create a workshop that is based around healthy and unhealthy relationships in relation to physical relationships but also friendships and family relationships. I want to use this project as a way of networking with different youth zones and also by getting my name out there. In the next coming year, I want to continue to grow my business and create a fun exciting business that stands out in the theatre industry for people to be able to approach me about using theatre to tackle taboo subjects. I want a career that I am constantly learning and developing myself aswell as the participants. I want a career where I never stop thinking about what to do next and how I can help change the world for the better. I believe that I am perfect at all of these roles because I have a ‘can do’ and ‘I can figure this out’ attitude which I believe is perfect because it means that any situation will not stop me from achieving what I set out to and I can cross any hurdle that stands in my way.
