My name is Danielle Eris Andal and I am a first generation graduate at UCLA, with my bachelor's degree with a major in Marine Biology and a minor in Literature and the Environment. After UCLA, I’m hoping to pursue an MPH and gain some experience in the public health sector in the meanwhile. While there is not necessarily a specific occupation I am striving for at the moment, I would like to gain experience in immigrant health, mental health, and reproductive/sexual health, as well as study the intersection between environmental sciences and public health. As for research, I have experience conducting undergraduate research through the UCLA Ecology and Evolutionary Biology Field Marine Biology Quarter, as I helped to conduct research within a group. More information can be seen in my posts.Additionally, I feel strongly about mental health and self expression, and I encourage it for myself in the forms of dancing and writing. As for dancing, I would consider my style to be within the genre of open style choreography, with a concentration in contemporary fusion. Open style choreography has allowed me to train in several different styles and find what feels best for me to express myself. I feel the best when I dance in contemporary fusion. As for writing, I have taken an interest in creative writing for several years and pursue it independently, as well as in clubs at UCLA. I also feel passionate for subjects such as environmental issues, sexual and domestic violence, and women's rights. I have even taken a HarvardX course through EdX about Women Making History.I am currently the Executive Director of junior dance team, FTDT, based in Temecula, California, where I have experience conducting board meetings to discuss the upcoming curriculum, handling the master calendar for the team, serving as the primary contact for the team, creating and keeping track of all relevant documentation for the team, keeping track of finances, and several other skills.
