As the Volunteer Services Coordinator for all Visit Sacramento events, I am responsible for recruiting and facilitating all volunteer services efforts for many of Sacramento's high profile sporting events and large scale community events, including, the Amgen Tour of California Bike Race, NCAA & USA National Track & Field Championships, Men's D1 Basketball Tournament/March Madness at the G1C, California State Fair and all Farm to Fork celebrations, including the F2F Festival on Capitol Mall and the Gala dinner on the Tower Bridge, just to name a few. I actively communicate with heads of departments to evaluate their volunteer needs; conduct orientations and train volunteers prior to events; arrange on-the-job training, supervision and evaluation of volunteers; resolve any challenges or conflicts; serve as liaison between administration, staff and volunteers; prepare and maintain procedural training manuals; speak to community groups promoting our organizations activities and role of our volunteer program; organize volunteer appreciation events and other recognition efforts; implement best practices for volunteer retention and currently working on implementing a Sacramento Sports Ambassador program.In early 2014 I introduced a volunteer software program to our organization. With strong community support and over 6,000 of (the best) volunteers in Sacramento our program was branded,SAC EVENT CREW, and voted, Sacramento's Best Place to Volunteer in 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
