Ashoka pioneered the field of social entrepreneurship and is the world's largest network of leading social entrepreneurs. There are over 3000 Ashoka Fellows implementing system-changing solutions to social and environmental challenges in more than 90 countries. Ashoka's vision is to realize a world where everyone is a changemaker. It does this not only by supporting social entrepreneurs but by identifying patterns of social development across fields and geographies to identify key levers and frameworks for changemaking._________________________________As Senior Advisor to Ashoka's leadership team, I am currently leading the development of an Integrity team and infrastructure to manage global operational risks, including governance, compliance, and privacy, among others. I also serve as a board-appointed "2nd Opinion" Reviewer and Panel Chair in Ashoka's world-renowned Fellow selection process. In this role, I help select new Ashoka Fellows in all regions of the world, assessing candidates' ideas and strategies for innovation and system-changing social impact, and chairing panels of leading social and business entrepreneurs to do the same. I also support fundraising and recruitment and advise on other institutional priorities.

Ashoka's Empathy Initiative is based on insights from the work of social entrepreneurs that point to empathy as the new literacy in today's rapidly changing world. It is a collaboration of social entrepreneurs, educators, thought leaders, and others whose ideas and talents can contribute to the creation of a world where every child grows up developing their capacity for empathy. The initiative brings together a global network of Ashoka Fellows and other partners to work toward a society in which learning empathy is as fundamental as reading and math. The initiative gave birth to the Ashoka Start Empathy platform and the Ashoka Changemaker School Network._________________________________As Founding Director, I collaborated with colleagues to develop and lead the launch of this initiative that grew to five continents and an annual budget of over $5 million in 4 years. Our team built one of the fastest growing initiatives at Ashoka by breaking out of a traditional program approach to establish a cross-institutional, distributed leadership approach, which established a model currently being replicated by other Ashoka initiatives. I built a team and raised over $15 million to launch and grow the initiative, leading the development of a network of social entrepreneurs, schools, media, universities, and other partners who are driving a global conversation on the importance of empathy and changemaking to children’s success. As part of this work, I also led the creation of Ashoka’s Changemaker School network - which selects and connects a diverse group of schools across the world that are prioritizing empathy and changemaking - and oversaw its growth to over 200 schools in more than 25 countries.

As Global Legal Director, I managed all of Ashoka's internal legal matters and over $3 million in pro bono support from law firms and legal networks. As Director of Advocates for Social Entrepreneurs, I led a program that facilitates collaboration between social entrepreneurs and pro bono attorneys.

Peace First is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people around the world to become powerful peacemakers by investing in their ideas, providing them with tools and skills, connecting them with other awesome young people around the world, and sharing their stories and impact with the world._________________________________I provided interim leadership for Peace First's partnership strategy, supporting the team to develop and grow partnerships in pursuit of the mission and goals of the organization and advising on movement-building partnership strategy.

As a consultant to IRIS, I contributed human rights expertise to a report for UNIFEM - entitled Advocacy to Improve Women’s Human Rights in Ethiopia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda - and an associated meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Researched and wrote legal analyses on human rights issues related to the war on terrorism - including habeas jurisdiction and the extraterritorial effect of U.S. human rights obligations - for final publication in Indefensible: A Reference for Prosecuting Torture and Other Felonies Committed by U.S. Officials Following September 11th .

Drafted legal memoranda and motions for filing with the immigration court and researched legal questions on pending cases.

As an Interim Representative for Ashoka, I developed institutional strategy for the Sahel West Africa region, recruited a permanent Representative, and developed and coordinated a dialogue event among social innovation stakeholders in Dakar.

As Associate Director, I designed a new “group entrepreneurship” program strategy and built a team to implement the strategy while managing Ashoka's funds for global collaborations among its Fellows. I also helped develop and implement a global dialogue on business-social ventures with the Grameen Bank in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

As Africa Desk Officer, I coordinated Ashoka's expansion to East Africa, managed Africa grants, identified new donors, and wrote proposals and reports. As Senior Venture Associate, I coordinated Ashoka's expansion to the Middle East North Africa region, helping write a business plan and start-up proposals that brought in $900,000. I also designed and conducted focus groups on small-scale production with social entrepreneurs in India and Indonesia.

Bread for the World is a faith-based advocacy organization that works with policymakers to address hunger and poverty issues domestically and globally._________________________________As International Policy Associate, I lobbied members of the U.S. Congress and helped carry out legislative strategy for advocacy campaigns on African agriculture and debt relief for poor countries.
